Shamrocks, shillelaghs and the land of leprechauns was in the spotlight when residents join in the “craic” for St Patrick’s Day celebrations at a care home in Great Wyrley.
Entertainment by fleet-footed Irish dancers was a highlight of the fun paying tribute to the patron saint of the Emerald Isle.
Irish-themed food, music and decorations was included in the event for St Patricks Day. Residents and staff at Waters Edge Care Home have been taking part in a World Journey since January stopping at a different country each month. For March they stopped off in wonderful island of Ireland and St Patricks Day celebrations is one event across a whole month of activities including entertainment, themed lunches, sampling some traditional cuisines to art lessons, cinema showings and weekly quizzes.
Manager Sandra Potts said: “The St Patrick’s Day event has become a tradition at the home and the dancers will no doubt be in midst of the celebrations. The residents are really looking forward to it. It’s become a highlight of the calendar here.”
