At Lakeview Care Home, we had a unique and insightful training session in collaboration with Apetito. Our dedicated staff participated in an in-house Dementia Mealtime Experience training to better understand the challenges faced by our residents with dementia.
Staff wore special glasses to simulate vision impairment and gloves to experience reduced dexterity. They were also supported with feeding while wearing clothes protectors to gain a true perspective of what mealtimes might feel like for our service users.
This experience has deepened our empathy and will help us provide even more compassionate and effective care. We’re committed to continually improving our skills to ensure every resident at Lakeview feels understood and well-supported.
