Residents at a Great Wyrley care home raised a glass to celebrate British Pub Week in their own pub ‘Lakeside Returns’ with a fish and chip lunch and a pint. Waters Edge Care Home, in Stafford Road, is joining in the national celebrations and joining in British Pub Week an initiative, borne of the Save the Great British Pub campaign, which celebrates everything that is great about the British pub! The event, from Friday 28th October to Saturday 5th November, aims to get people back into pubs by promoting their positive impact on society through a packed series of events, a celebration of everything that is great about the British pub. Staff at Waters Edge, owned by Alpha Care Homes, created the traditional pub byconverting a room in the home complete with its own bar, optics and dart board. Jenny Cowley Reminiscence Co-ordinator at the home said ‘The residents really enjoy visiting the pub having a drink and chat, as well as daily activities held in the pub we use the pub for quiz nights, sing songs, games nights or some residents like to come along to sit in the pub and play drafts or domino’s’
