All Staff, Residents and Visitors made a donation to support this worthy cause and became an Elf for the Day, other events across the two homes Lakeview and Waters Edge on the Stafford Road, Great Wyrley included a Cake sale and Tea Dance.
There are 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK. And the national figure is set to rise to one million by 2021.
Lisa Courtney, Community Fundraiser for Alzheimer’s Society in Staffordshire said: “It’s fantastic that Alpha Health Care participating in Elf Day.
“It’s great to see staff so engaged. Elf Day is fantastic fun but there’s a serious side to it as dementia is now the UK’s biggest killer, with someone developing it every three minutes.
“We need to fund research into finding a cure, as well as services that help people affected by the condition to live well, with the support and care they deserve.
“Unfortunately, too many are facing dementia alone without adequate support. That is why we urgently need to find a cure, improve care and offer help and understanding for people affected. Fundraising activities like Elf Day help us towards that goal.”
